We are Cub Scout Pack 78 in Vienna, VA. We are chartered by the Vienna Rotary Club and we serve the students of Louise Archer Elementary School, as well as other surrounding schools. First through fifth grade boys are welcome to join our Pack anytime!
Pack 78 Cub Scouts develop friendship and camaraderie while participating in fun activities throughout the year. Pack 78 has five Dens corresponding with first through fifth grades: Tiger Cubs is for first graders, Wolves for second graders, Bears for third graders, Jr. Webelos for fourth graders, and Sr. Webelos for fifth graders. These Dens participate in age-appropriate activities under the direction of adult volunteers called Den Leaders. Dens typically get together monthly for Den meetings - usually at Louise Archer Elementary School and sometimes at the home of a Den Leader or scout. They learn scouting skills, do outdoor activities, arts and crafts, play games, and have fun. The two biggest events of the year are the Raingutter Regatta in the fall and the Pinewood Derby in the winter. We hold our Blue & Gold banquet every February. The Pack goes camping at nearby Lake Fairfax or other venues several times during the school year. At other times individual Dens enjoy hiking, biking, and other adventures, activities, and learning experiences. Scouts learn about citizenship and their community by visiting police and fire stations and town officials, as well as TV and radio stations and many private businesses. Pack 78 Scouts also contribute to their school and community through service opportunities throughout the year. Cub Scouting is a family-oriented activity, so we welcome your son and your entire family to come to a Pack meeting and see what we're all about. We typically meet on the third Wednesday of the month from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Louise Archer Elementary School cafeteria, but check our calendar to confirm the date and place.
